Victor Rail Festival Runs Again

With many vendors, entertainers, and themed-train rides, Victor Friends of the Railroad helps all of us celebrate our rail heritage in style.

The Friends of the Railroad, Inc., a non-profit volunteer organization in Victor, will be hosting the 2nd Annual Victor Railroad Festival on Saturday and Sunday, August 8 & 9. Highlighting the railroad festival will be train ride excursions both days with special theme rides for youngsters and the young at heart.
On Saturday at 11 a.m. with be the Cartoon Capers Tour, featuring live performers on board for the enjoyment of kids of all ages. Train, Tales and Tunes at 12:30 p.m. will have train stories and songs on the ride to delight passengers. Fiddle 'n Around will feature strolling musicians "String Fever" on the train from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
To entertain all from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. there will be miniature train rides (do you remember the train that ran in Edwards Dept. store in downtown Rochester at Christmas time?), music on the homegrown stage, games and activities for the kids and the popular local band Paulson, Baker & Garvey playing your favorite songs from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday will start with a Pirates and Princesses Tour at 11:00 a.m. as live performers scurry among the passengers.
At 1:00 p.m. Gary the Happy Pirate will be on stage to delight festival attendees. Then at 2:00 p.m. will be a special history train excursion with Dr. Robert Ward talking about the role that the railroads played in the development of Victor and other towns in Ontario County. The popular band Everhart will play on stage from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.There will be a BBQ and additional food and beverages available both days. There will be local history walking tours, local railroad equipment on display and Operation Lifesaver safety information available. There will be lots more entertainment, including a talent show, karaoke singing and a mustache contest. The Festival opens at 10AM both Saturday and Sunday.- 887 reads
